Project Jaldhar, a CSR Project of GAIL implemented by CFM, wins Prestigious CII-National Water Awards for Excellence in Water Management-2016.
Project Jaldhar, implemented by CFM under the CSR mandate of GAIL (India) Limited, was awarded by CII (Confederation of Indian Industry) at a ceremonial function held at Le Meridian Hotel, New Delhi on 27th September, 2016. The project won in the “out of fence Category” for outstanding work in Watershed management & development under CSR project: Jaldhar in Jhabua District of Madhya Pradesh. A total of 21 companies were shortlisted for the award, of which GAIL received the award for Excellence in Water management for path-breaking contribution in Watershed management and development.
The award won by GAIL for Project Jaldhar was finalized through a rigorous three-tier evaluation process of detailed questionnaire, authentication of water structures through digital GIS technology of water tool and WATSCAN and finally on-field verification of involvement of communities and their feedback. The jury of the award consisted of eminent personalities from Government, industry and development sector and was headed by Sh. Anil Kakodkar, Chairman of Atomic Energy commission, Director of the Bhabha Atomic Research Centre, and also recipient of second highest civilian award Padma Vibhushan in 2009.
The jury, CII members and people from the industry complimented and appreciated the contribution of GAIL in uplifting and empowering tribal communities in Jhabua through its meaningful and socially relevant CSR initiative.
